About the project
The application was developed as a part of the project ‚Tree-ring database as a tool for description and prediction of responses of the main forest tree species to climate change‘ (TAČR: SS03010134 ; Technology Agency of the Czech Republic; Environment for Life Programme). A significant part of the new data inputs into the database was funded by the project ‚DivLand – Centre for Landscape and Biodiversity‘ (TAČR: SS02030018). The project is built upon the tree-ring data collected from forest stands across the Czech Republic.
Institutions involved in the maintenance of the database and production of results include the Charles University – Faculty of Science; the Silva Tarouca Research Institute for Landscape and Ornamental Gardening – Department of Forest Ecology; the Forestry and Game Management Research Institute; and Mendel University – Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology. The database is live, open and we foresee the involvement of other institutions in the future. The main contributors of data, apart from the research institutions mentioned above, currently include the Czech University of Life Sciences – Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology; the Botanical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences; and Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem – Faculty of Environment. The main analytical outputs aim to inform adaptation measures of landscape and forest management to ongoing climate change. Another objective is to make existing tree-ring data available for research purposes.
